February 2012

Tamarack awarded contract to provide training to staff at the Town of Portugal Cove – St. Philips.  Professional service work will include showing how to use a GPS unit in the field to collect town asset information and then upload it into the town’s GIS application.

Tamarack successful in maintaining status on Nova Scotia Standing Offer until 2013.

September 2011

Tamarack was contracted to provide advice and direction for the implementation of an ESRI GIS solution for the New Brunswick Department of Environment. Tamarack was to identify the department’s high level business, system and integration requirements as they relate to GIS, provide recommendations on the established GIS architecture to support the current and future plans of the department and define an implementation plan for the delivery of the recommendations provided.

August 2011

Tamarack is contracted to implement Visual Fusion (a spatially based Business Intelligence software solution from IDV Solutions) for Newfoundland Power.  This had been one of the recommendations of the report previously delivered by Tamarack, entitled “Location Data Management and Visualization Plan”. This solution would be implemented by Tamarack from Aug – October 2011 to be used as a tool for the QA of their joint light pole survey with Bell Aliant.  For a copy of the Case Study for this project click here.

July 2011

Tamarack becomes the Canadian Reseller/Partner for IDV Solution’s Visual Fusion Product. Visual Fusion is business intelligence software that unites data sources in a visual, interactive map that allows for better analysis and decision-making.  A copy of the press release can be found here.

May 2011

Tamarack is awarded a contract to complete a GIS review and provide Operational Support for the Eastern School District of Newfoundland Labrador (ESDNL).  This professional services work will involve the review of GIS requirements, provision of recommendations on how better to use GIS as a decision-making tool and the training of staff in the use of ESDNL’s in-house GIS application.  Tamarack would also provide Operational Support in regards to providing analysis and recommendations on bus route and catchment area determination.

January 14, 2011

Tamarack successfully completes the GIS Standards and Data Control project phase for Nalcor Energy – Lower Churchill Project on time and on budget. Subsequent phases are being planned and implementation by Tamarack is expected to commence in the 1st quarter of 2011.

December 17, 2010

Tamarack is awarded a contract to complete a GIS review and plan for Newfoundland Power. Work began in early January 2011, with the final report being delivered in March 2011. This report, entitled “Location Data Management and Visualization Plan”, outlined recommendations for Newfoundland Power to quickly address a number of operational issues related to location data, which will have an immediate positive impact upon its business. Tamarack continues to work with Newfoundland Power to implement the recommendations in the report.

November 18, 2010

Tamarack is awarded a contract to complete an Enterprise GIS Architecture and Implementation for the City of Fredericton. This professional services work will involve the review and planning of Enterprise GIS strategies for the municipality. Tamarack delivered a report reviewing the current status of the City of Fredericton’s spatial infrastructure and outlining strategies for improvement. This was the first phase in the transition to a new Enterprise GIS environment and Tamarack continues to work with the city on subsequent phases.

Several employees of Tamarack attend the 2010 Geomatics Atlantic Conference in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Tamarack’s booth was a popular destination for many attendees of the conference as the industry was interested in seeing demos of some of Tamarack’s successful online GIS projects.

Tamarack has been awarded a contract with Service New Brunswick (SNB) for the review of its publicly accessible GIS services. The focus of the work is to review current GeoNB GIS services, including workflows associated with their creation and management, raster data storage and the creation of OGC compliant services. Recommendations on how GeoNB can improve its already well received GIS services are an important part of the work as well as a plan on how to move forward with their implementation.

Tamarack Geographic has been awarded a second contract by Nalcor Energy - Lower Churchill Project for GIS Professional Services. Tamarack will again partner with Spatial Energistics to complete work centering on Data Control and Management. This is the 2nd phase of work as identified in the GIS Strategy deliverable from Tamarack. Work began in June and is expected to be completed by 2011.

Tamarack has been awarded a contract with The Torngat Secretariat for a GIS Consultant to provide assessment of GIS Services, including software and hardware, required to implement a GIS solution.

Tamarack Geographic has been awarded a contract by Nalcor Energy - Lower Churchill Project for GIS Professional Services.  Tamarack will partner with Spatial Energistics to define a strategy that will allow Nalcor Energy - Lower Churchill Project to implement a Geographic Information System (GIS), including data and systems, to meet the needs of the current and potential user base for environmental assessment and related activities. Steps are outlined for the organization of the Base Dataset and GIS Support for the Labrador - Island Transmission Link Environmental Assessment activities. Work began in January 2010.

Launch of Map Resource Center by the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) in the Government of Newfoundland Labrador.  Tamarack was previously contracted to complete a corporate service requirements study and define a policy and governance model. Tamarack was subsequently contracted to architect and design an enterprise environment to deliver those services within the agreed to model. The subsequent design will serve the diverse and divergent needs of over 14 departments and 20 emerging user groups, spread throughout the Province of Newfoundland. See announcement here

Tamarack awarded 2nd phase of contract with New Brunswick Department of Transporation (NBDOT). Tamarack will put its previously developed strategy and implementation plan into action as it continues to help build an Enterprise GIS solution for New Brunswick Department Of Transportation.

Tamarack joins Newfoundland Offshore Industries Association (NOIA). GIS is a tool that can be applied in numerous industry verticals. By gaining exposure to the Oil and Gas markets, Tamarack plans to develop its GIS business in this sector.

Tamarack signs MOU with Torngat Secretariat. Tamarack will create digital maps to be printed for various datasets, including Forestry, Caribou Locations, and Fishing Camps.

Tamarack awarded Mapping contract with Department of Municipal Affairs. Tamarack to prepare digital maps of various features and characteristics found generally within Labrador and specifically within and adjacent to the Labrador Inuit Settlement Area as described in the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement.

Tamarack awarded contract with New Brunswick Department of Transportation (NBDOT). Working with MTS Allstream, Tamarack assisted in the planning of an ESRI 9.3 enterprise GIS technology. The final deliverable was a GIS Architecture document which provided the outline and implementation plans to put the proposed system in place.

Tamarack awarded contract with Nunatsiavut Government to create the Nunatsiavut Environmental Assessment Application (NEAA). NEAA will provide current GIS data to government departments to aid in their environmental decision making processes. 

October 1st, 2007

Tamarack begins work on the Geospatial Infrastructure Design Project for the OCIO. The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador initiated this project in order to move the government from an environment of isolated geospatial development and deployment into one that could serve the greater needs of the geospatial community.  A phased approached using an integrated methodology combining GIS and best practice IT Project Management lifecycles was the employed. This delivered design led to the development of the Map Resource Center.
