WHAT IS GIS?

Geographic Information System (GIS) is an integrated collection of computer software and data used to view and manage information about geographic places, analyze spatial relationships, and model spatial processes. A GIS provides a framework for gathering and organizing spatial data and related information so that it can be displayed and analyzed.

Location, Location, Location – we’ve all heard this saying! Whether it comes to looking for a home, where to open a business, or where to stay while on vacation, making decisions based on location is human nature. GIS is a tool that incorporates location data into other data so that we are able to make more informed decisions.
